Some Fragments on Friday
It's in the 80s here. I don't like it. So it's a good thing I can stay inside in the air conditioning and participate in Friday Fragments over at Half-Past Kissin' Time! If you want to play along, just click on the button below and follow the link to FUN!
The last week was a roller coaster of happy highs and bittersweet lows. All four of the lovelies were here over the weekend along with Dad and GreatStepMom. But Birdie, Dad and GreatStepMom had to leave on Sunday, Breezy had to go Monday, and Deanie left on Wednesday. I went from a house filled with family, laughter, and fun to that overwhelming silence that hung over the house until...well, it's kind of still here. Luckily, DoodleBug lives just downtown and comes over frequently or this would suck worse. And then there's all those towels and linens to wash, dry, fold and put away.
I actually got out in the garden area a bit. It's so dang hot out there and the gnats are terrible but it has to be dealt with. My friend Kim (My Field of Dreams) sent me some flower seeds that I'm excited to plant! On corner of the back yard will be devoted to these seeds-if I don't kill everything, I'll take pictures!
I'm still out there running even though it's HOT. I had hoped to make running an enjoyable habit before the HOT weather showed up. But it never really left because, and I might have mentioned this before, winter never bothered to show up around here. Nevertheless, I shall not be deterred from my goal. My initial goal was to be able to run the entire inner loop (don't get excited, it's less than one mile around) and I have very nearly reached it! Once I have conquered that loop, I start adding distance until I finally reach 3 miles. Not all of my ideas are brilliant (like this one) but, once I commit, I'm in until the bitter end. Which I hope is soon. HA!
We've begun all sorts of healthy practices around here in the last couple of months. I plan to share some of these during the April A-Z Challenge. I'm hoping to go all the way through using the theme of health/weight loss/exercise/etc. Some of it sounds nuts, but it's pretty awesome!
I can't believe it but I forgot to fill out a bracket for March Madness this year! WHAT?! That's right. F.O.R.G.O.T. So all I'm doing is watching. And my Tar Heels are still alive!
And that's about it for the week! Hope y'all have a fantastic weekend! The weather dude says it's only going to be in the mid to low 70s all weekend and next week. I don't believe him. So, I'm going to be watching college basketball. Inside. In the air conditioning. Sheesh.

Its warm here in NJ too. Not has warm as where you are but around 75 or so. Sunday it should go back to normal temperatures. What happened to winter?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
First visit...enjoy your weekend
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to wrap my mind around a place that's already hot in March. I do not envy you...except in January and February, of course.
ReplyDeleteAlways hard to see the kids go, isn't it. And that's why we have dogs. lol
I am starting the running to hoping to get up to the 5K mark. Keep going, it is worth it!
ReplyDeleteWe've been breaking March temperature records in Toledo the past few days. Crazy weather.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your A-Z posts! I can't do a lot of the physical stuff, but I'm definitely interested in your other healthy thoughts!
Good for you Pam, on keeping to your goal, even in those very hot temperatures. It can.t be easy running in that heat, so I admire you! I can imagine how desperately quiet it must be in your house now, after all your family being there like that. As you say, thank goodness for Doodlebug!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first day that it's felt like spring around here. Not that I envy you at all 'cuz I don't like it real hot either. Me and Goldilocks - it has to be just right!
ReplyDeleteKimberly- I don’t know what happened to it but I sure did miss it! We’ve had no relief!
ReplyDeleteGail- Are you sure? LOL Thanks!
Judy- They say it’s going to be in the mid to low 70s next week but I’ll believe it when I see it..feel it. LOL Good point about the dogs!
Wayne- I’m hoping to run the Turkey Day Run downtown! Are you going to run that one?
Nani-It is crazy if y’all are breaking records up there! I’m working on the A-Z posts already. Hope I can do it all!
Diane-It’s not easy running in the heat. And, when combined with humidity, nearly impossible. At my age anyway. I just have to keep going. Can’t let those young ones think I can’t keep up. LOL
Stephanie-Amen to that!
70's is perfect. 80's starts to get too warm. But I know you hate it and I love it! We agree to disagree! Hope all your lovelies are home soon again. I can't imagine all the towels you must have washed...yikes. Keep smiling in the A/C.
ReplyDeleteBarb- WHAT?! It gets too hot for YOU?! LOL When are you coming back down?
ReplyDeleteIt's been in the 80's up here in Central Wisconsin too - - - that's unbelievable for THIS time of year.
ReplyDeleteIt just MIGHT be in the 70's down there for the weekend - - - we dropped down into the 60's with rain here.
That sent me outside to weed my driveway flower bed - - - I HATE gardening and especially weeding - - - but the low temp and no bugs HELPED.
It is way too hot here... I can't believe that I'm considering putting the A/C on in MARCH!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for spring and warmer weather. :D Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI did a bracket but didn't think Ohio St. would go this far--I should have had more confidence in them I guess.
ReplyDeleteMy nest is empty and I've gotten used to the quiet, so when they come home I love it but am not too heartbroken when they leave! :)
ReplyDeleteAdmire the running! We're trying to walk every night. Hope we keep it up!
Aw, sorry they're all gone back, I knew you'd be lonely once it was over. But, bright side, it's getting nearer all the time to the next one!
ReplyDeleteThe weather here is unseasonable warm too, but in a good way, it's 11 degrees today, which I think is about 30 with you, probably seems really cold to you, lol! I'm off to do some gardening to celebrate the sun!
well done on your running, your commitment is marvellous
Congrats on your running goal! :)
ReplyDeleteMy family is getting together this week. The last time we were all together was my dad's funeral in 2005, I think; it's going to be great to get together for fun! :)
Thanks for linking up. Sorry it took me forever to get here!! Have a great week.
