Happy---Wait...What Day Is It?

I don't know about y'all, but my world gets confused every time there's a holiday and the husband is home. I feel like we had two Sundays...or two Saturdays...or something! Anyway, I'm going to be all messed up on my days this week. Luckily, Joyce has the lovely hodgepodge to keep us straight about today being Wednesday!

1. In your opinion what's the most important job in the world? Oh, and parenting is a given so besides parenting, what's the most important job in the world? Organic farming. And it's going to be getting more and more important as Monsanto and other companies that promote genetically modified seeds and try to put more and more small, organic farmers out of business and make more and more consumers sick. Which is where the pharmaceutical companies come into play.

2. Share a favorite or not so favorite memory from a childhood birthday. All I can pull up at this moment is my 5th birthday--- and I remember being all excited waiting for the other kids to arrive. I don't think we really had many birthday parties when I was growing up- which is probably one reason that I made HUGE deals out of the lovelies' birthdays! I still do!

3. Peanut butter-crunchy or smooth? Smooth!

4. William Butler Yeats is credited as saying, "Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing." Your thoughts? I am happy when I'm growing IF, by growing, he means learning--although some of the things I learn don't make me happy. But I'm also happy just when I know the lovelies are coming home for a visit or when I have time to sit and bird watch (and take their pictures) or when I'm listening to music or when Tucker brings me his ball to play---so many simple, every day things do provide happiness for me.

5. What's something that makes you cringe? Wow, this is a long list. I'll just go with people who smack when they eat. Or scrape their fork across their teeth. OR...LOL I'll stop there.

6. Name a song that always puts you in a good mood? That will always depend on my mood. However, this one is a favorite of the lovelies and, when I hear it, I think about those sweet girls growing up and how much fun they had dancing to it together at Breezy's wedding:

7. The answer is yes. What's the question? Am I ready for fall? Am I sick and tired of heat and humidity? Am I begging for a long, chilly fall and cold winter? Is summer on my $%&* list? Do I hate these blasted mosquitoes?

8. Insert your own random thought here. I caved. And I mean I TOTALLY caved. I'm reading THAT book. And I can't find a single word to say about it....probably because I am still in shock. I heard and read all these things everyone was spouting off about the thing and then realized that some of these people hadn't even read THAT book (well, THOSE, there's a series of three of THOSE things). Before I pass judgement, I like to read the book, see the movie, research the issue, etc. THESE books just might change my mind about that little routine. I'm not a prude BUT, I honestly cannot find the words...

Have a great rest of the week! Hope y'all can keep your days straight better than I!

  1. Come on Eileen - what a fabulous song! Definitely puts a smile on my face when I hear it :)

As for THAT series of books - I bought them this summer but have yet to read them. Can't help it - I'm curious to know what all the hype is about, but I'm in no rush. Will get to it someday ... Happy Wednesday :)

  2. I haven't read it.

You're not ready for fall are you ? : )

  3. As far as THOSE books go - daughter is reading them and I will when she is done - I'm interested to see what all the hype is about.

  4. LOl! I have THAT book on my Kindle, but haven´t read it yet. Waiting for your opinion...sounds like you´ll have one by the time your finished.hahaha

  5. I haven't read that book, and I don't think I'm going to. I wouldn't be a happy camper if my hubby were reading something similar geared to me, so I choose not to read it.

I like your answer to #7. I thought maybe we'd be getting more fall-like weather ... and we will be by the end of the week ... I guess summer's got to get in one last zing.

  6. I, too, say ENOUGH of this heat and humidity! My poor hair can't take much more! Love that song...brings back lots of memories for me. Wait...is THAT book, THE book I'm thinking it is?

  7. Your questions for number seven could all be my own! You can tell we live in the same climate :)

I read THOSE books this summer. At first, I was in shock! I'd NEVER heard of (or read about) such things, but by the second book I'd actually began to like the characters, and got totally engrossed in the story. I guess you could say I got a bit of an education along the way, too!

  8. Crunchy pb for me, please!

I'm a funny kind of person when it comes to hype...I run in the opposite direction. Don't even want to know. This is probably restricting my knowledge of some dark corner of the world but I'm OK with that. I have read about the books, though , and I don't really think I'm missing anything at all.

  9. Oh my gosh you are reading that book??? Oh gee, it must be really what? shocking? My daughter the married one, told me some things, and I told her to just stop, I couldn't hear anymore. So I will take your word for it. I remember thinking I would read it to make up my own mind and now, well I will just let you tell me. :) I don't want that crap stuck in my brain.
I like all of your answers this week. :)

  10. Plum- The lovelies have always enjoyed that song. And they were so cute at Breezy’s wedding dancing to it altogether! I decided I would try them too. Deanie (DD2) sent them to me when she finished. Which makes them even creepier. LOL

Joyce- You might not want to. Fall? What’s that? LOL I’m just hoping and praying for a long, chilly fall and cold winter. They skipped us last time around.

MKM- I got them from my DD2. The other lovelies won’t read them. They may be smarter and wiser than
    DD2 and myself. LOL

Betty- Well, look out if you do. That’s all I’m sayin’. LOL

Kathy- I totally understand. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to finish it much less read the other two. I’m begging God to send fall and for it to last a long time and be chilly. I’m dying here- this heat is oppressive!

April- Tell it Sista! Yes. THAT book IS THE book. LOL

Kathy- I’m just sick and tired of all this heat and humidity. Enough is enough. I think I’m still in shock. But, at the same time, I’m caught up in the story. NOW what do I do? LOL Oh yeah, an education…I’m quite fond of learning…not that I ever wanted that kind! LOL

Stephanie- I’m not usually one to hop on the hype wagon either. But Deanie was reading them and I”ve always (since they were little girls) read everything that the lovelies read. Of course, I’m now thinking this is not always a great idea. LOL

  11. Kim- Well, shocking is the word I came up with. But that's just because my vocabulary is too limited to come up with another one. :) I have to admit that I find some of the 'raw' scenes comical. But a lot of them I find disgusting. On the other hand, I'm totally caught up in the story. Would I recommend it? Probably not. At least, not without extreme caution advised!

  12. I'm mildly interested in reading THAT book because of all the hype and opinions I've read and because I like to read the book and see if I can figure out how they'd make a movie out of something everyone says is so "raw" and still get a rating that will get it into regular theaters.

That being said I saw Blair Witch Project because of all the hype and the marketing was fabulous...for a truly low quality movie. I'd say it was high school production quality, but I worked with some high school kids in local cable and I wouldn't insult them like that. Anyway, something hyped like that has less appeal now.

Strangely, my aunt asked if I was reading THAT book last June when we were all on vacation. Is there an assumption that e-readers always hide smut?? What was she saying about me?? LOL

Anyway I probably will eventually read the first one of THOSE books, but if it's written as poorly as I've read it is, I won't finish it. Looks like I'm better off with the library for that one.

  13. Okay, I have to admit that I'm looking forward to fall this year...this summer was great, and all, but the drought was alarming and the heat pretty much did me in. Most years, I dread the coming cooler days and chilly nights, but this time I say, "Bring it on!"

  14. Nani- I can't see any way that they can possibly make THIS book a movie. Not without an XXX rating. Sheesh. It is poorly written. I've read elementary school reports with better grammar. But I am caught up in the story. Shamefully. LOL

Karen- That's what I say, "BRING IT ON!"

  15. I love heat so I am sad to see it leave and to have it dark in the morning when I wake up and have to leave a light on when I leave in the evening. I love the colors but that is about all I love of fall. I don't think I will reading THAT BOOK, it sounds pretty harsh.

  16. Love your answer to #7, you are definitely ready for Fall. I haven't read those books, some friends of mine have liked them but I doubt I will read them.

  17. "there's a holiday and the husband is home.." - that got me thinking - just be sure the boyfriend doesn't get confused. Ha Ha - I hope.
    #1 - blogging of course.
Great song pick - Eileen - also the answer to the riddle "What do you call a girl with one leg?"
    I'm full of it tonight.

  18. I can certainly see why you call the girls lovelies, they are indeed lovely!
I have heard much about THOSE books, but haven't read them. My son's girlfriend is reading them. She is a bit on the shy side and says that she has skipped some of it because she just couldn't read those intense parts. Maybe when she finishes them I will borrow them.

  19. LynnMarie- Harsh is an understatement. Seriously. The heat has just been way too much around here for too long. We never got fall or winter last time around and I feel as though it's been hot for well over a year.

Debby- I am so ready for fall...this heat has been terrible and even worse this week. I quickly learned how to skim certain parts of THAT book.

bill- LOL You're a riot! And I agree, you ARE full of it---LOL Thanks!

gal-Thank you! I borrowed them from DD2. Hey, I'm 54 and I've had to skim through a good bit of it myself. LOL

  20. I can't keep my days straight at all this week and it has gone too fast for me. Way too fast.
I love that song, love it.

We messed with our farmers way too long ago, what a darn shame. I read a book written, I think it was written in the 1960's by a woman and she was having a fit with all chemicals we were putting in our ground and claiming it was killing our farming then, with growing and grazing, not to mention now farmers are using crap to increase stuff. Oh, we should have left things alone, including the market.
    Gosh, there I go again.
