Fallish Hodgepodge

I'm still waiting on the cool weather that should be here with my favorite season. The early morning hours and nighttime temps are delightful. But during the day, we're still heating up to the upper 70s and lower 80s. I don't like that.

At least I have the Hodgepodge to keep my spirits up! You can too- just click the button and join in the fun!

1. What's one thing you learned in September?  That I have a co-worker who did something this summer that I wish I had the guts to do right now.

2. Acorn squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, yellow squash, zucchini squash, or blech! hold the squash... what's your favorite squash? What's your favorite way to prepare your favorite squash? YES, PLEASE! I'll take any type of squash and I have favorite recipes for every single kind so I'll spare you what could turn into the longest answer to a Hodgepodge question EVER. LOL

3. The older I get the bolder I get with voicing my opinions...the less I care what people think of me...the more I hate gray hair...the earlier I go to bed...the less I care about being short on patience...LOL

4. What's your favorite television theme song ever? Drawing a blank here. I know some, I can even sing/hum them. But I can't put my finger on a favorite. Maybe some of your answers will trigger something.

5. What do you wish you'd spent more time doing five years ago? Working on getting fit and losing this stupid weight.

6. What item do you most need (or want) to add to your wardrobe this fall? I am actually in the process of adding some maxi skirts. I usually only wear pants of some sort but I'm adding these. I've already added a black one, a gray one and---hold on to your hats cause you won't believe this---a RED one! AND- a turquoise one! What?!

7. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts cartoon was introduced to the world. What was your favorite cartoon when you were a kid? I LOVED Peanuts when I was growing up! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I still love them. I watch all the specials to this very day. So, I'm going with Peanuts. LOL

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I am trying Couch to 5K again. I'm on week two, day two. When I took my shoes off yesterday morning and put them down, my first thought was, "I'm so freaking glad I don't have to touch you again for 48 hours."

I kind of hate it running while I'm doing it but, when it's over, I'm glad I did it. At least the mornings have been cooler now that fall has set in. We are going to have a bit more of those dreaded summer temps this week but I am hoping and praying that this will be it. I need cold to run. And to enjoy fall.

I've had some bad computer luck lately but I think I'm good for  a minute until I get a new one. SO- I hope I'll be getting around to everyone's blogs today and READ!

Have a great rest of the week!

  3. Good for you, with the Couch to 5K. I have a friend who did it, and loved being able to run that 5K. She is still running. Wish my knees would let me - I have trouble walking right now (used to run track in high school...).

I want to get a couple of maxi skirts too, but I am such a 'big' girl, I'm not sure what would be flattering (if anything!). Will you show us a picture?

Enjoyed your answers today!! Happy hump day!

  4. April- I hope I can. Unfortunately, I usually lose interest and stop. UGH.

Bean- I finally found some color without chemicals and I love it! It covers gray beautifully!

Terri- Our school librarian ran track in college and she has knee problems now too. I am a really 'big' girl myself. But I got them anyway. We'll see if I actually wear them. LOL

  5. As always, I enjoyed reading your answers! Best of luck with the Couch to 5K.

I once went through a phase of wearing lots of jumpers--with socks and tennis shoes. Remember when that was in style? LOL

  6. Your not going to share what she did? I feel the same way about getting fit because as the years pass it gets harder to lose!

  7. Definitely wish I'd been a little more on top of my exercise habits five years ago. That's about when my metabolism quit. I'm trying a boot camp, it's only been one day, but I actually kind of enjoyed it. Course I woke up this morning, and couldn't lift my arms : )

We were at 82 in the great northeast yesterday, but everyone here was happy. Flip flops in October is a rare thing, plus we know it won't last. Winter is coming, so may as well enjoy these warm days of early October. Have a nice weekend!

  8. Kathy- I wish I could say that I didn't remember when that was in style and that I didn't wear any of it. But I do and I did! LOL Thanks!

Debby- I'll tell you...she left her husband. Of course she didn't have as many years invested and she has worked so she has enough financial freedom to do it. It sure is harder to lose as we get older. Really hard.

Joyce- Keep me informed about the boot camp. I've thought about doing one. I just need to find one that has other women my age in there. I am NOT going to fall all over myself with 20 and 30 year olds watching. LOL Flip flops down here are nearly year 'round. I'm just so tired of walking to my car in a sweat. I'd rather be in a sweat-er...groan. :)

  9. Before you said what it was I knew. I hate that you're not happy. Well, you're happy but just not 'happy'! and I'll shut up now! Good for you for running. And maxi skirts are a big girls best friend if the right top is with it. Hugs!

  12. Barb- That's exactly right. And don't you ever shut-up! :) The top is the part I'm working on now. I do love the skirts!

learning- She left her husband. She was smart to do it while she is young-ish.
