Finding the Hodgepodge

Wednesdays seem to come around quickly, don't they? Fall will be over before we know it and we haven't had fall weather yet. That's just sad. Even sadder is if fall AND winter skip us again this year. It will be the 3rd year in a row. At least there's football, decorations, holidays, and grandchildren!

Oh, and let's not forget---the HODGEPODGE!

From this Side of the Pond
1. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your sense of direction? 1= can't find my way out of a paper bag and 10=if I've been somewhere once I can find it blindfolded ten years later. I'm a big 'ol 1 on this one. And I have no idea how I ended up in the paper bag either.

When was the last time you looked at/used a map you could hold in your hand? (phones don't count!) Not that long ago as there are 2 people in our family who REFUSE to use the phone for directions and love to yell at those of us who get confused when using 'real' maps. Oh, so less than 6 months ago.

back east, down south, out west, up north

Choose one of these directional expressions and tell us why you chose it. Up north because I bet they're having real fall temps instead of more summer which is making people around here sick even though down south means home.

2. Did you do more talking or listening yesterday? Listening. Is that typical? These days, yes. Describe your yesterday in one word. Smiles. Because this:

Dimples, Y'all.
And then, yesterday:

Y'all, I. Can't. Even.

3. Time, money, water-power-resources, opportunity...which one on the list are you most guilty of wasting? I don't know... maybe opportunity because whether or not I take advantage depends on the opportunity. What might you do to change that? I don't think I want to, actually. Not every opportunity that knocks is for me so being picky in this is, I think, a good thing.

4. Did your family take regular vacations when you were a kid? Yes! Tell us something you remember about a family road trip from your own childhood. I just re-posted about a camping trip complete with a haunted house on Monday. Y'all can read it HERE if you'd like.

5. If you could grow anything you wanted, what would you grow? I thought of so many things and they were all selfish so I thought what do I really want and all I came up with is world peace. I know, call it cliche or whatever but how dang nice would world peace be? Why? Because of these two (and all the other children in the world):

However, if you're talking about things we actually grow in the dirt, I'm going with any kind of vegetable. I am the WORST vegetable gardener IN THE WORLD. Flowers? No problem. Veggies? Does. Not. Happen.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Yesterday, both grandbabies were at my house at the same time. I don't think I've ever had a more fulfilling day in my entire life. These two cousins are a bonded pair. I honestly believe that if anyone ever tries to do anything to Baby R, Baby M will clean their clock. She has as Mother said, laid claim to her baby cousin.

Grandmothering is the absolute BEST, Y'all! The. Absolute. BEST!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

  2. Those grands are just too cute! So nice they'll have each other for playmates. Loved the ghost story. Still chuckling over the curtain and fast exit. Reminds me of Boo Radley's house. When the cousin's got together, we'd scare ourselves silly with ghost stories after coming into the house from a game of Starlight Moonlight.

    1. OMGosh, Judy we had such a grand time with them yesterday! Marcy had to be wherever Roland was and she had to hold him most of the time. He is now HER baby. LOL My cousins and I used to scare ourselves with ghost stories, too! My older boy cousin was the WORST. He scared us silly every time. LOL I'm glad you enjoyed the tale. My brother still swears it wasn't the wind. Haha!

  3. Pam,

It's been a looong time since I last visited you. How the heck are you? I'm now back to doing "Wednesday Hodgepodge". Let's hope I can keep at it and not get pulled away like I did somehow several years ago. Anyhow, I can only imagine grand-parenting is the bestest! I'm not sure that I'm ready for it and thankfully I don't have to think about that just yet. Have a good week and I'll see ya around the cyber block!

    1. It has been a long time for sure and it's nice to see you back. I didn't think I was ready either until I saw that little face. Smitten from that second. LOL Welcome back!

  4. Those precious grandbabies sure are growing up fast! Time slow down! It's sweet when cousins grow up together and have that special bond. Three of our four are very close.

    1. I know you're enjoying your little man! I'm so glad I get to watch him grow up via Instagram! My mother and my husband prefer paper maps. I go with the phone app every time!

  7. The grandchildren are adorable, Pam. As far as directions, if I’m staying in a hotel I MIGHT turn in the right direction to get to the elevator by the 5th or 6th day.

    1. I am the exact same way on the elevators! I thought I was the only one in the world like this. It's so nice to know there's at least one more out there! :)
