Summer in the Hodgepodge

Hey, Y'all! Come on down to Charleston for a visit. Because misery loves company. Ha! Summer has kicked it up a notch or 50 and we're having full out August weather in June. The last few weeks we at least had thunderstorms every day but those have slacked off so it's just hot. Terribly hot. Unbearably hot. As a matter of fact, this is my relationship status on the Facebook.

Luckily, I don't have to go outside for the Hodgepodge. I can sit right here in the AC and enjoy Hodgepodging with the rest of you!

From this Side of the Pond

1. Summer is upon us this week in the Northern hemisphere. Tell us three things on your summer bucket list. I don't 'do' bucket lists so this is just my summer to-do list.

Stay inside where it's cool.
Celebrate 3 birthdays- TeacherDaughter, Bug, and Baby R!
Stay inside where it's cool.
2. Something fun you used to do as a kid in the summertime? Go to the pool, play with the cousins, catch lightning bugs, going to the beach, 4th of July celebrations, hanging out at my grandparent's house, putting up fresh veggies with Grandmother, churning homemade ice cream, cookouts, camping, going to the lake, eating watermelon, the sounds and smells of afternoon thunderstorms, coca cola in a glass bottle with peanuts inside...I can't stop at just one thing. I loved everything about summer when I was a kid!

3. Rooftop or backyard? Backyard. Why? Because you cannot fall off the backyard.

4. Do you read food labels? Yes. Place importance on them? Yes. Make an effort to find out/care about where your food comes from? Yes.

5. A song you'll have on repeat this summer? My listening preferences are totally dependent upon my mood of the moment but I have these guys (The Wild Feathers) on repeat because they're super talented; I like their music; they have a new album out; the drummer will officially be a part of the family in May. Here's a new one from the new album (release is June 29th):

6. Insert your own random thought here. Heat. That's about the only thing on my mind because it's FREAKING HOT down here. And then there's a bit of disbelief that this kid is going to be 2 in a little over 2 weeks--

and this kid is going to be 1 in another month---

and this kid is going to be too old for me have a kid "that old" or 27.

Have a great rest of the week, Y'all!

    1. The heat index has been 110-115 and we don't usually get quite that hot. It's scary to me. I do think there's such a thing as too hot. Thank you! I think so, too but I'm Grandma so...LOL

  2. Those are awesome memories from your childhood. Three awesome birthday coming up. Those little ones are growing up way too fast!

    1. Thank you. I really enjoyed those times. The littles are definitely growing up too fast. Right before my eyes.

  3. Those grand babies just grow up too fast don't they. I live in Northwest Louisiana so understand heat and humidity. Neither agree with me, thus my repeat song for the summer. Stay cool, my Hodgepodge friend.

    1. They sure do! I can't take the heat and humidity like I used to. Every summer I swear will be my last because those two are going to kill me. LOL

  5. Well the one year old is harder for me to believe. A whole year has already gone by?? Good grief! Cute kids. And life is rushing past! I laughed at your reason for choosing backyard over rooftop. Have a great Wednesday. Stay cool!!

    1. I have no idea how these guys are growing so quickly. I thought it would slow down since they're grands but it didn't. Well, heights are not my favorite. :) Everyone is thrilled my soap arrived. Because now I can shower. LOL

    1. Thank you, Terri! I don't know where it goes but they're going to be in college by next week if they don't slow down. LOL

  9. I like your answer for #2. Reminds me of some my summer memories.
I also agree with your logic for #3.
Food labels - I just did a post about that subject yesterday. I agree with your answer on that.
The about-to-be-one pic reminded me of those school yearbook poses for wrestling pictures.
