C is for Cinema, M is for Medley

It's Wednesday and day three of the A-Z challenge. Since Terri shared with us it is National Film Score Day so I have taken the liberty to stretch it a bit to make my C word, Cinema because doesn't Hollywood take liberties all the time so not that much of a stretch, eh? LOL Anyway, let's do this!

1.  Let's talk about film scores/songs. What is the first one that you thought about when you saw today's subject? Why, GONE WITH THE WIND, of course.

2.  Do you remember the first movie you ever saw on the "big screen"? I think so. Would you tell us about it? I'm not absolutely sure this was my first big screen movie but it's the first one that made an impression so- MARY POPPINS. Sadly, my review was one sentence long: 'That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen.' I don't remember saying that exactly but that's what Mother said I said and I do remember not liking the movie so...LOL Of course, when my aunt took me to see THE SOUND OF MUSIC on the big screen and Julie Andrews came over the mountain singing my comment was, "LOOK! It's Mary Poppins!"

3.  Who is your favorite female movie star? I have several favorites many of whom have long moved on to that big screen in the sky so I'm going to go with Meryl Streep.  Who is your favorite male movie star? I don't know that I have a living favorite but when I was growing up I ADORED Kurt Russell and I still do. Current movie stars...I think Bradley Cooper is quite talented. Go ahead and list more than one if you must.

4.  How about those old black & white movies!  Which one do you always stop and watch, even just a little, when channel surfing? Oh my goodness this list is sooooo long! I love way more black and white movies than all the color ones put together. I'll stop and watch just about any one of them. Anything with Bette Davis, Myrna Loy, Katherine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Doris Day, Claudette Colbert, Deborah Kerr, Irene Dunn, Maureen O'Hara...I could go on and on. And if the leading man was Gregory Peck, David Niven, Jimmy Stewart, Spencer Tracy, Cary Grant, Sidney Poitier, Jack Lemon, William Powell, Walter Matthau...again, I could go on and on. If any of these actors and actresses are in a movie I will stop and watch it.

5.  Is there a movie quote that makes you laugh or one that you repeat often in life that you can share with us? I am not a fan of Barbara Stanwyck but she delivered a wonderfully sarcastic line after deliberately pouring hot coffee on the hand of a total jerk who was coming on to her she said with total flat affect-- "Oh, excuse me. My hand shakes so when I'm around you." Will we know what movie it comes from without you telling us? I'm not sure so it's BABY FACE.

6.  Please share something random about your week with us. There's not much to tell so far but then very little could compare with this past weekend when both grands were here. It was a grand time but they are both toddlers so it was totally exhausting. Y'all can read a bit about it HERE. Ok, there are some words on the post but mostly you'll see pictures. :)

Have a wonderful rest of the week, y'all!

  1. I like Meryl Streep, also unfortunately I didn't even think of her!! I retired from teaching a few years ago, and I keep #2 daughter's son, who is 15 months old. Shew! by the end of the day I am tired!!

    1. I quit teaching 2 years ago to take care of my granddaughter and it was exhausting but so worth it. I did it for almost 2 years but she loves other kids so they put her in a Montessori school and she LOVES it! I still pick her up early at least once/week because I just have to have my Marcy time. :)

  3. Yes to Gone With the Wind and all of those old movie stars. I did like Mary Poppins, but I had the book before I saw the movie. Thanks for joining the Medley today and I'm glad it fit right in with your A-Z.

    1. I was determined to fit it in with the A-Z so I'm glad it wasn't too much of a stretch. LOL I know, I was the only kid in the world to not like Mary Poppins. :)

  4. You have some darling photos of those grands!! And Gregory Peck? Be still my heart! in Roman Holiday? Incredible. And I loved Katherine Hepburn too, in movies with Spencer Tracy. Those are the next movies I'll look up. and FYI, I loved Mary Poppins and Sound of Music. I even like the new Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt is SO cute in that role!) but only Julie Andrews should ever be Maria. Why they ever thought they could remake that one. sigh. because you really needed my opinion, right. LOL
