A Little Wednesday Hodgepodge on a Thursday

I've been up at school the last couple of days trying to get some new tech related visuals up on my walls for the students so I've been MIA blog-wise.

And that is why the Wednesday Hodgepodge is Thursday Hodgepodge for me this week!

1. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week...what's one thing you could do this week to qualify as a participant? I've been working on this whole 'simplify your life' thing for a couple of years now. I've had small successes. So I think I'll just keep plugging away at it, little by little, in the hopes that, eventually, I will achieve ultimate total success. Does that qualify me?

2. It's also National Peach Month...peach pie, peach cobbler, or please pour me aBellini?  What's your peach pleasure? Yes, PLEASE! Anything is fine with me! Except I might pass on just the peach all by itself. I used to eat them all the time when I was little but not anymore. Now, I prefer them to be in any of those delicious recipes you mentioned and more!

3. Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote, "Do one thing every day that scares you." Agree or disagree...explain. Eleanor Roosevelt- LOVE her. L.O.V.E. I can't even begin to explain how much I adore her. Wish I had known her personally! There is something to be said for venturing out into the unknown. As long as we realize that each fear that is conquered becomes our next obstacle. If we choose not to venture out and face our fears, we allow them to restrict and confine us.

4. What's your favorite household chore?  Yes-you have to name one. Ok, I'll pick steaming the floors. I don't mind doing that and the floors look so nice afterwards.

5. Fodors recently listed (what they've dubbed) the ten most beautiful sunset spots in America. Click here to read more and see the pretty pictures, but this is their list:

Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara CA, Mount Haleakala in Maui HI, Old Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe NM, Laguna Beach CA, Hopi Point in Grand Canyon AZ, Four Seasons in Miami FL, Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica CA, Gay Head in Martha's Vineyard MA, Ensign Peak in Salt Lake City UT, and Mallory Square in Key West Florida.

Have you seen the sun set from any of these spots?  If you could choose to watch the sun set this weekend from one spot on the Fodors List, which would you choose?  Where was the prettiest sunset you've ever seen?

I've seen the sunset from the Grand Canyon but I don't recall exactly where at the Grand Canyon we were. I was about 12. The prettiest sunset I've seen around here was when a hurricane was brewing. So pretty! Amazing how something that can be so frightening and destructive can bring such beauty with it as well. I might choose one of the sites in CA so I could visit my friend Kim while I was over on that coast!

6. What's your favorite or most used app?  If you don't use apps how about your favorite or most visited website? I have several that I enjoy using. I use the Sprint 8 app 3-4 days/week and Sports Tracker the other days. I use my weather app daily even though they tend to warn me of an impending severe thunderstorm an hour AFTER the fact. But one that I really enjoy is my Mood 3D app. I just love keeping up with the phases of the moon. I am a HUGE fan of a full moon and I watch the moon change daily on this app. Very nice.

7. We've recently passed the halfway mark for 2013...write a seven word sentence that sums up your year thus far. Time surely flies when you're having fun.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Getting back into the school grind is not going to be as easy as I thought. I've been getting up early as usual but without having to be somewhere at a specific time. I like that. But it's almost over. The last couple of days have reminded me of how much I love the people I work with though, and that makes all the difference!

Have a great day!

  1. Simplify has been my "word" for several years now. Haven't been very successful! So we are opposite on the peaces, I like them as is. Great sentence! Glad you like the people you work with, that is half the battle of working......

  2. Good to catch up, even if it is a day later than usual. You have an excelletn reason for being a bit late with hodgepodge. I have total respect for all teachers and the amazing job you do. Blessings!!

  3. One way to simplify is to move into a two bedroom apartment! And if you're coming to California you better come see me too. Say hi to everyone at school from me (at least the ones that remember me).

  4. Debby- I do love the folks at school so much! They mean more to me than some of my family. LOL

Terri- I have so much to do to get ready for the kids. The whole time I was up there yesterday I was thinking that I needed to get home and do the hodgepodge! LOL

Suzanne- I wouldn't dare come out there and not visit you! I promise!

  5. We're finishing up our first week of school, and it's like we never left. Except, of course, for all those transfers! YUCK!

  6. Hope you have a great school year! It'll be time for Christmas break before you know it :)

  7. Wow, summer flew by, you are already heading back to school!
Sunsets are gorgeous and I have been blessed to have seen some beautiful ones too :)

Good Luck getting back into the swing of things!

  8. I love how you sum up your year so far.
Can't believe we're almost back to school, but I too love the people I work with, we always have a good laugh!
Best sunset I saw was on Santorini, Greece, where they played classical music each night and people gathered, sitting on the rocks, having a beer. Oh, how I want to go back there just for that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
